How We Work

A Heart for Hull team – comprising part time roles of an Enabler, Administrator and Development Minister – has been recruited to help the Hull Deanery develop the different workstreams.

The workshops gave people the opportunity to share good practice, ideas and challenges they faced. Each workshop also tried to share something new that was useful and encouraging to participants. One of the key outcomes was to identify people who are passionate and/or experienced in a particular area to help develop some of the ideas and challenges identified. A Heart 4 Hull Working group has just been set up to collaborate and prioritise ideas.

Consulting closely with the Deanery Leadership team and Bishop of Hull, most of the workstreams started with workshops, to which Church leaders and members from across the Deanery were invited.

An example of the workstream around Grassroots and Parish Ministry is the Treasurer Pilot.

From the Poverty & Wholeness workshop held late 2024, a working group was formed and they recently held a Healing & Wholeness workshop series. Some great initiatives were shared which have helped churches journey and connect with people in their communities, created a sense of belonging, supported healing and provided space to learn about the Christian faith.

Following the Children & Young People’s Workshop, a Children and Young People's Leaders Network is getting going. The aim is to encourage voluntary and employed leaders across the deanery to share ideas and good practice, encourage and pray for one another.

With all the workstreams we are keen to connect and collaborate with Churches, community groups and organisations across the city.

The Heart for Hull team is a 3 year resource. The hope is at the end of that time every parish, across the Hull Deanery, has been able to benefit through the team’s support, that there is more collaboration among churches across the city and more people are keen to be part of a church community.
