Jesus promised us that if we’ll follow him, he will teach us to fish for people and make disciples. This practical one day workshop will equip you to make disciples among people who are far from God, using simple, reproducible tools.
You will be taught: how to connect with people and start spiritual conversations; how to share your story; how to share God’s story, the gospel; how to invite someone to read the Bible with you and discover Jesus for themselves.
This training is run in many different settings, and wherever people implement the tools we hear stories of people coming to faith in Jesus and learning to follow him in discipleship.

Venue: St John's Newland, Clough Rd, Hull, HU6 7PA

Tim O'Brien is Net Zero Carbon Manager for the Diocese of York.
At Synod he will present the possibility of linking up with a range of community groups (such as PowerHull and Cooperation Hull) and the local authority to initiate a city-wide community energy scheme. We would like to explore the possibility of the Anglican Church in Hull being part of this in collaboration with the Methodist Church in Hull. There will be time for discussion, questions and an opportunity to sign up if you are interested.
This initiative would have three main benefits:
Decarbonising our churches as part of the Diocesan and National net zero plans.
Proving an additional income stream for churches.
Providing genuine opportunities to engage with local communities in a practical and positive manner.
We are obviously at a very early stage, so many unknowns exist, but we think it is too valuable an opportunity to ignore.
(In his role, Tim helps to turn our net zero ambitions into practical action across the diocese. He coordinates the programme plan, supports parishes and colleagues, secures funding, tracks progress, and keeps our governance bodies updated so we stay on course).

Discussion with River City Church; Establishing a CAP Debt Centre.
River City Church Hull would like to invite interested church leaders/staff to a discussion with Steve Haines from Christians Against Poverty, on Wednesday 15th April from 12:30-2pm, about the establishing of a CAP debt centre in the city.
Whilst we are aware of the amazing work of churches in the city who run CMA debt services, we believe there is more need in the city than they are currently able to meet, and we want to see if there is an appetite amongst other Hull churches to work with CAP to meet this need.
The discussion will focus on what setting up a debt centre looks like, how a partnership might be established between interested churches across the city to support a debt centre, and how we might then all benefit from clients being invited into our churches.
Lunch will be provided. If you would like to attend book on HERE.
Through the Veil; Easter Gathering
Easter Day Gathering 2026 - Sunday 5th April at 3.30pm at Hull Minster (until 5pm)
Join us as we pass through as the curtain is torn in two, as God is kind of liberated from the temple, as grace is made available to all. We will create that river of grace described in Ezekiel 47 with flows wider and deeper from the heart of Father, Risen Son and Holy Spirit, bringing life in all its fullness. We will share that fullness, that connectedness, that freedom as we pass through parts of the Minster into a wide open river delta teaming with fish, 'picnicking' on the banks and joining in an invitation to 'jump in'... maybe even get out of our depth.
So please come with friends, whole families, bring a picnic (we'll provide some hot drinks) and, if you can, please bring a cloth, rug, throw, picnic blanket or some-such in greens, browns, or floral patterned to have your food and maybe sit on. (There are chairs too). (These greens will form the river banks).
If you have friends, family, people you work with who don't do church, or not much, then this for them (as well as you). Nobody will make you do anything, but as we watch beauty unfurl and experience the bible story for real (arts and drama); and as we sing and move and eat together.... we'll be part of the kingdom of heaven coming in Hull. (If you came in to the Gathering 2024 - or 'holy upheaval' in advent 24, it may well have some of that feel - accessible to anyone including those who might not do church much and to children as well and as much as adults; it will be self-made, joyful, shocking and playful).
